Qutub Minar
The Qutub Minar is an ancient historical
building. It is situated at Mehrauli in Delhi . It is a
72 metre high minaret which has four storeys. Its
first three storeys are made up of Red sandstone
but the fourth storey is made up of marble and
Red sandstone. It was built by Qutub-ud-din Aibak
as a symbol of royal prestige. But he died in 1210
during its construction. It was completed by
Iltutmish. Its diameter at the base is 15 metres
and 2 metres at the top. There are inscriptions of
the Quran on the walls of the Qutub Minar.
Humayun’s Tomb
This tomb is actually a group of several
buildings of the Mughal architecture. It is
situated in the Nizamuddin part of New Delhi .
This tomb was built by the Humayun’s widow
Hamida Banu Begum . It is also a world heritage
site.
