11 An Honest Woodcutter
About The Lesson
This lesson is about a poor woodcutter . The woodcutter was very honest and one day he was
rewarded by the river Goddess for his honesty. Let’s read this lesson and see how it happened.
There lived a poor woodcutter in a village. He was the only man to
earn money for his family. One day, when he was cutting a dry branch of a
tree on the bank of a river, his axe slipped from his hand and rolled down
into the river. At this the woodcutter began to weep loudly. He was very
much worried.
At that very time the
river Goddess came out
and saw the wood
cutter. She offered
him a golden axe.
But the woodcutter
refused to take it.
