10 Witty Birbal
About The Lesson
This lesson is about the witty minister Birbal, one of the nine gems of Mughal emperor Akbar.
These was a saying that there was not a question of which Birbal has no answer. Let us read
the story and see how Birbal used words in a clever way to make emperor Akbar laugh and
rewarded him for his intelligence.
One night Akbar, the Mughal emperor was standing on the roof of his
palace with his wise minister, Birbal. He looked up and saw many shining
stars spread across the night sky.
“Birbal, can you tell me the exact number of stars in the sky?” asked
Akbar.
“Yes, my lord!” replied the clever Birbal. “As many as the hair on a
horse’s tail.”
