In 1962, Abdul Kalam moved to the Indian Space Research Organisation
(ISRO), where his team successfully launched several satellites. He developed
India’s first Satellite Launch Vehicle (SLV-III) which successfully injected the
Rohini satellite in the near earth orbit in July 1980.
In 1982, Abdul Kalam returned to the DRDO as
director, focusing on guided missiles. He was
responsible for development of Agni and Prithvi
missiles. He came to be called India’s missile-man .
In July 1992, he became scientific advisor of
India’s defence minister. His work led to the successful
Pokhran-II nuclear tests in 1998 which made India a
nuclear weapon country. He received India’s highest
civilian award, the Bharat Ratna in 1997. Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam
He also became President of India in 25th July, 2002.

Raja Ram Mohan Roy
Raja Ram Mohan Roy was born on 22nd May, 1772 at Radha Nagar village in
Bengal. The name of his father was Ramkant and the name of mother was Tarini
Devi .
He received his early education at Radha Nagar. He
learnt Persian and Arabic in Patna and Sanskrit in
Banaras. He had considered knowledge of Latin, Greek,
Hebrew and French languages. He founded Hindu
collage at Kolkata .
He was against some of the religious rituals. In
those days, social evils like child marriage , sati pratha
and casteism were very common in the society. He
wanted to free the society of these evils. He opposed
Raja Ram Mohan Ray very strongly the practice of sati pratha.
He started Brahmo-Samaj in 1828. The followers of Brahmo Samaj believed in
one God . They also believed that God is Omniscient.
He died on 27th September, 1833 at Bristal.
Swami Dayanand Saraswati
Swami Dayanand Saraswati founded the Arya Samaj . His most important
