The Sun Temple
This temple is situated at Konark in the Puri
district of Orissa. The temple takes form of a
chariot of the Sun God. It is decorated with
beautiful stone carvings.
It is a thirteenth century temple and has
been declared a heritage site.
Kailash Temple, Elora
The Kailash Temple at Elora is a great
monument of its kind. It has been carved out
of a single rock in mountain. The temple
exhibits the different aspects of myths and
beliefs related to Lord Shiva. The outer walls of
the temple are decorated with innumerable
statues. The Shankar-Parvati Vivaha (marriage
of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati), dancing and fighting demons, procession of
elephants, lions and other animals have also been exhibited.
The Ramayana and the Mahabharata, the great Indian epics have been
depicted in visual form on the panels.
Mahabodhi Temple
It is Buddhist Temple at Bodhgaya near
Patna in Bihar. It is a place where Gautama
Buddha attained enlightenment. It is a very
famous holy place for Buddhist.
Sanchi Stupa
The Stupa of Sanchi is situated near Sanchi, a city of Madhya Pradesh. It was
built by Maurya King Ashoka the great.
The Stupa of Sanchi is very significant
historical monument. It shows a fine
example of art and architecture of
ancient time. There is a wooden railing
around the stupa. There are four
gateways on the four sides. There is a big
dome in the centre. It is hemispherical
