A festival is a special time to celebrate. During festivals, we feast and
rejoice. It is a time when family and friends come together.
National Festivals
National festivals are celebrated by all the people of the country. We
have three national festivals.
Republic Day
It is celebrated on 26th January
every year.
It is the day when India became a
Republic.
Independence Day
On this day India became free. It is
celebrated on 15th August every year.
Prime-minister hoists our national flag
at Red fort on this day.
Gandhi Jayanti
It is celebrated on 2nd October every
year. It is the birthday of Mahatma
Gandhi. He is called the father of the
nation and popularly known as ‘Bapu ‘.
