Aryabhatta

He lived between 476-520 A.D. Aryabhatta was the first man
who found out the motion of the earth. He completed his

studies at the University of Nalanda.
Aryabhatiya and Surya-Siddhanta were his two great

scientific work. In Aryabhatiya, he has declared the place
value of numbers from 1 to 9 and the use of 0 (Zero). He
worked in spherical geometry, arithmetic, algebra and plane

trigonometry. Aryabhatta gave formulae for the area of a

In his second work, Surya Siddhanta, he has described the motion of the earth.
He clearly explained that the earth revolves around the sun. He has also thrown

light on solar calender in which the year has been divided into 12 months. He
